What is Suffering?
We all suffer by some reasons. Isn’t
it? Do you really ever try to find reasons of your suffering? It’s not feasible
until you feel it deeply or broken by it badly.
My
question is to you: How do you see suffering in your lives?
I’m sure everybody gone through suffering in different ways. We struggle
with our physical and mental health as well. I’m touching some points which may help
you to know suffering at a deeper level.
Nobody wants suffering, and that’s why all find or choose to avoid suffering in their lives. So, my point is - Is there any way to get rid of suffering?
Suffering is something when we expect
and the outcome does not come as we wanted. Our desires and craving for things
or person are the main cause of our sufferings? Did you ever try to look into it
this way?
You may relate suffering with different
kinds of issues or matters which you are involved with. It may be something
related to your relationships, wants, and works & craving for getting or
achieving something and your desires. So, why is suffering there?
In my opinion, suffering may
differ according to the circumstances and incidents, what people have gone
through in their lives.
It's also possible that we let suffer ourselves
because whatever happens around us.
In simple words, suffering is a feeling
of unpleasantness or aversion.
We may see that everyone has sufferings
in their lives, this means suffering is not yours or mine. Suffering is
suffering. Aren't all human sufferings the same?
Greed and desire are the greatest
causes of our suffering.
To get rid of suffering, there is need
to be consciously knowing that suffering is causing unpleasantness or aversion in
you. Only then, you may go to the root cause of suffering and its measures too.
Suffering is a feeling when we are
dissatisfied with what we have. Our desires and craving runs after us.
Don’t you think it’s our wrong desires
and cravings to bring suffering in our lives? Because we don’t think of our
desires, randomly we choose to fulfill them, maybe just by looking at others.
You know we all have tendency to
magnify or exaggerate all our miseries, suffering, unpleasantness instead of
appreciating those things what you have. Even we do not count blessings in our
lives. Secondly, we do not plant right desires and expectations in our lives. For
this, we all need to keep working on our mind, thinking, thoughts which helps
to choose our desires. Right! Isn’t it?
We never ask questions and even don’t look into our desires what they are, whether it’s realistic or not.
Our right-thinking, right thoughts, right efforts, right action, right
understanding, right speech, and right desires can help us avoid sufferings in our lives.
At all times, we take suffering as a
bad thing, but you may also learn to face it without being broken by it.
Suffering
forces us to turn our attention inward, to face parts of
ourselves that we would otherwise ignore. It helps make
us flexible, thoughtful and
introspective and develops us
into better people. The more suffering we have, the greater we become. Suffering makes
us wise when we say that it is not only my suffering, but also everyone's suffering, so it develops the right understanding of finding its cause and enables us to better endure
adversity.
